The AI assistant

Solvent's assistant answers questions about your finances and proposes actions — it is advisory and never changes anything on its own; you approve each action.

Turn it on

Go to AI settings and either:

• Add your own Claude API key (recommended — unlimited use; stored encrypted at rest), or
• tick use the shared key if your deployment offers one.

Without a key, AI features are disabled.

What it can do

• Answer questions over your live data ("Am I about to hit the VAT threshold?", "What's my runway?").
• Explain VAT/CT/compliance decisions.
• Propose write actions (mark an invoice paid, create a coupon) — surfaced for one-click approval.

Ask Claude to populate

Under Sample data → Ask Claude to populate, answer a few questions and Claude builds a personalised sample dataset so you can explore with data like yours. Free accounts get one generation; paid accounts can regenerate within reason.
